Off I Go

Well, this is it. Tomorrow I get on a plane and head west to start the tour. Hard to believe I’ve been planning since July when the idea sparked on a highway drive—and I’m not even done planning. There are still a few spots to fill and I’ll hopefully do so whilst on the road.

Before I go I want to thank everyone who’s helped me get to this point. Indeed I am embarking on the journey solo, but so many people have made this possible for me.

Both Cynthia Good and Jennifer Murray from Humber who have, through their connections and excitement for the idea, opened many doors for me.

My parents and brothers who, above their support, have helped with many of the logistical tasks (including getting my car in reasonable condition for the drive).

Al and Cathy Adachi, for their enthusiasm towards the project and whose financial aid is really the only reason I was able to move forward after the grants didn’t come through.

My friends who have listened to me rant and rave about the ups and downs of planning a trip of this magnitude and who have helped spread the word.

Special thanks to my friends Dan and Lindsey who are looking after my pooch for both the duration of the tour and my sojourn in Toronto afterwards.

And of course my partner, Paul who has kept my head up, my mind focused, and my spirit light.

Thank you and much love to you all.

With that, my bag is packed and I’m off!

  1. So excited for you — you’re going to have such a great trip! Take lots of pics and post often. On a selfish note it’s just sort of sinking in that you’ll be gone most of the summer though, and I’m kind of sad too.
